A School Wildlife Pond

A wildlife pond for a School in Kent

I have been so struck by the school’s enthusiasm to bring a wildlife pond and growing beds to the area. The pond has been designed to work with a class size of 30 children and has been split into three engaging zones.

Zone One | A playful seating area made from a mixture of materials. As well as a place to sit, it’s a habitat for insects and amphibians. There’s a magnifying post close by for the children to get a closer look at the treasures they find.

Zone Two | A bridge where children can get close to the centre of the pond and explore. It’s a great spot for pond dipping.

Zone Three | A shallow beach with boulders where children can investigate the shallow water.

It’s been so great hearing from the headteacher and school about how passionate they are in connecting children to nature. I can’t wait to come back and see what wildlife sets up home.
